Social-Emotional Wellness Program Logo Design Process

Hello, It’s been awhile. I was recently given the task to create a logo for the new Social-Emotional Wellness Program, run by Jerry Smith, of St. Charles Parish Public Schools. The program intends to help students of all ages with their state of mind.

I walked into this with so many ideas. I was ready. The bam! A page of dud sketches. I was stuck. Nothing would turn out. Nothing clicked. I wandered around the Digital Media room, hoping to find inspiration. Then, I found a group of highlighters. It was as if I was struck by golden lightning. I began stippling with highlighters. This was looking good, but then I remembered I told myself to start in black and white. I begrudgingly did it again, in pencil.

Now it was time to take it into Illustrator. I did not want to try stippling on the laptop, despite having my own drawing tablet. This is when I first attempted to use an iPad, EVER. I used Adobe Fresco to do the sketches. This was easy to transfer to Illustrator because it turned my dots into their own shapes. Now that I had 10,000 tiny dots, and an off center wrapped text, it was time for color. Color was easy. I was asked for the SCCPS colors and Green(which represents health).

I made my Mock-Ups on Redbubble, which I’m quite familiar with, and I used Google Slides to make my presentation.

The Presentation was a bit of a scare. We had a slightly larger audience than what we were used to, so we had a big panic. The bus also showed up late so we had only 20 minutes to prepare that day. Despite all of this, the presentation went well, and Mrs. Smith liked the logos. Finally, we were done! Then my parents and little brother walk in, so we present again. Anyway, the logo turned out great, the presentation worked out, and now I can somewhat navigate an iPad.
